I think your mom instinct is telling you what to do :-) DD2 was 6 on 08/16 and just now starting kindergarten - we did 2 years of preschool and I know it was the best thing for her. An older mom (who I really respect) told me that if I felt comfortable doing it then preschool is the best time to "repeat" because they don't realize and it's giving them one more year of childhood. :-) Good luck!

I would pull him too. No way would I send an August birthday to kindy. I'd rather my kid be older with more confidence for the next 13 years. I have a little boy in my 7th grade class that is the youngest. He's cried twice this week (that I know of), and is a hot mess everywhere in the building. Academically, he's ok, but completely disorganized, so his grades are mostly Cs because work doesn't get turned in. I think another year would have made a world of difference for him.
