Leaving daycare- should i get a gift?

My kids were in a daycare/preschool for about 8 months an they attended 3 full days a week. Their last day is tomorrow since dd is starting kindergarten and DS is starting pre/school on the way.

Should I or do you normally buy a good bye or thank you gift for the teachers?

We liked them but didn't love them.

If so, what kinds of gifts? Ideas please since I have to get them quick! Tia!

Your not obligated, but it is appreciated. If you liked them I would. Best gifts- at least to me when I was teaching- were home made cards from my kids. I know some people think thats cheesy but I loved them more then anything else. You can also do gift cards to Starbucks or Target. If you know there are no food allergies you can make cookies or brownies. It doesn't have to be crazy just a little acknowledgement.

Ditto. I gave DD's former daycare teachers a homemade card and some of her favorite books for the room. But DD was there for 18 months and we LOVED her teachers there.

I'm a SAHM now, but when I was working, we gave small gifts to all DD's teachers as we either moved rooms or they left. I really loved all her teachers, and know that they don't get paid nearly as much as they deserve!

Ditto too.

Our last daycare, even thought we had used her for 2 years and she was good we did not give a gift. It wasn't our choice to leave. She told us she was going back to work and gave us 2 weeks notice. While that was her choice I wasn't very happy.

The current daycare we are at i will probalby give a gift of some sort when everyone is done. but that will easily be another 5 years hopefully.

Thanks for the ideas! DD made all her teacher thank you cards and she wrote the message her self and their name on the envelope (she knows how to read/write). And for the director, we gave her a reward sticker book to accompany. They liked it.

I think it was a nice thought, especially when you hadnt been there for long.
