How much Miralax for my DD?
I can't reach the doctor but he recommended Miralax for my DD, 3 years old (and small for her size). The nurse seemed unsure when she told me half a capful. A capful a day is the adult dose...I was thinking of doing 1/4 or 1/3 capful, but I'm not sure.
I've been giving her ALL fiber for the past 2 days and that's not worked. Even prunes, though she didn't want to each them much. How much have your doctors recommended in the past?

My DD was put on Miralax at 3yo and we did 1/2 cap full. She was average size for her age. If you are unsure just start out with 1/4 and see if that works.

Re: How much Miralax for my DD?
My ODS has severe bowel issues and at his age the does was 1/2 cap per day. It takes a day or so for it to work for us.

My dd is 2.5, about 26 lbs. Ped recommended starting with 1.5 teaspoons and adjusting from there.

Re: How much Miralax for my DD?
Thanks for all the responses. I've given her 2 tsps or so...nothing yet. I heard her tummy churning before - but who knows? That coulda been all the fruit I have in her. (!!)
I'm sure it'll happen tomorrow on our long car trip. Or in her 30 min dance class.

Re: How much Miralax for my DD?
1 heaping tablespoon (or 3-4 tsp) is the 17 gram capful dose for over 17 years of age. Most MDs recommend 1-2 tsp (1/3 to 1/2 capful) for little ones. It's an osmotic ingredient so even a small amount will have an effect. It's basically going to keep water from leaving the stool in the intestines so it stays soft. It may actually cause water to enter the stool (hence the gurgling you hear) and the possible resulting diarrhea. So, I would start low like 1 tsp and work up if you need to. Hope you get "results" before your car trip! Apple juice and prune juice usually are a big help, too. Sugar in juices act as an osmotic agent, too.
