Considering cap, diaphragm, or Paragard...

I had a Paragard IUD between DD1 and 2 and I was happy with it but I no longer have insurance and Planned Parenthood website says it costs $500-$1000! I am not excited about paying that much but it would be better than an unexpected pregnancy. Have you used a diaphragm or cervical cap? What was your experience with it? I know I can find my cervix and would be able to get it in there but if we have spontaneous sex I am afraid it will ruin the moment, like putting on a condom. Also worried if I am doing it in a hurry I could get it placed incorrectly and end up with an unplanned pregnancy. I do NOT want anything hormonal either. Suggestions???
