What is the HCG Diet?
Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, a specialist on obesity and weight regulation, introduced a program that has helped many people overcome weight loss resistance. The program utilizes a natural hormone that is produced during pregnancy called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). Dr. Simeons’ theory is that HCG causes the hypothalamus area of the brain to trigger a release of abnormal fat stores. When administered in relatively small doses and coupled with a very low calorie diet, people routinely lose 20 pounds in 30 days (view average results and success stories here).
HCG has helped thousands of people lose those stubborn pounds. In addition to weight loss, many patients who have completed the HCG program also experienced many other health benefits, including a drop in cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.
What is the Hypothalamus?
The hypothalamus is a part of the diencephalon area of our brain. This is the vital part of the brain which controls all of the autonomic functions of the body, including breathing, heart beat, digestion, sleep and the complex functions of the endocrine system. One of the many functions of the endocrine system is regulation and control of your metabolism and weight.
How does HCG help me lose weight?
HCG appears to act on the hypothalamus, signaling the body to release stored fat into the bloodstream where it is then available to be used by the cells for nourishment. This alone will not cause weight loss, though, unless you reduce your food intake. This forces the body to use the mobilized fat from the bloodstream. HCG causes the release of abnormal fat without affecting structural fat and muscle tissue. Which means you lose in those stubborn areas--hips, thighs, buttocks and upper arms!
Do I have to follow a special diet while I take the HCG drops?
Yes. You must follow the entire HCG Diet Protocol as described in Dr. Simeons' manuscript, "Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity", where he outlines a special 500-calorie-per-day diet that was tested on thousands of patients. HCG is only effective for weight loss if it is taken while strictly following Dr. Simeons' HCG Diet Protocol, including the 500 calorie diet. Taking HCG alone (without the diet) will not cause you to lose weight. HCG takes effect when you reduce your food intake so that the mobilized fat will be used for your body's energy needs. If you fail to follow the diet you will fail to lose weight. If you only follow the diet without taking HCG, you are simply starving yourself because there is no fat in the bloodstream to burn. Simply put, both are required.

1- 12 oz/16oz Perrier Sparkling Water
Juice of ½-1 lemon
12-15 Stevia drops (to your liking)
HCG Iced Chocolate Coffee Protein Drink
Mix 1 serving of Chocolate protein mix into 1 cup of black coffee. Add stevia drops to taste. Pour over ice and ENJOY!
Chicken or Beef Taco Salad
3.5 oz. Lean beef or 3.5oz chicken breast
Lettuce of choice
Mix lean beef with spices and cook with a little water in a non stick frying pan. Put over lettuce and enjoy with melba toast!
For chicken: (I pre-cook 3.5 oz pieces of chicken breast in the crock pot!) Take pre-cooked chicken breast and shred up add spices and warm up with a bit of water in non stick frying pan. Put over bed of lettuce and enjoy with melba toast!
Spicy Chicken and Cilantro Taco Salad
3.5 oz. cooked and shredded chicken breast
Lettuce of choice
Ground Cayenne pepper
Frank’s original hot sauce
Mix shredded chicken/all spices and 2-3 shakes of Hot sauce (more if you like it spicy) in non stick frying pan with a little water, warm up for a few minutes. Take lettuce of choice and add a little cilantro and mix together. Add chicken over top of lettuce/cilantro. Enjoy with melba toast. YUM.
3.5 oz of lean ground beef
Melba toast ground up
Tiny bit of Cayenne Powder
1 Tablespoon 2% Milk
Mix melba crumbs, spices, and 2% milk together. Add ground beef and mix well. Form into oval patty shape and cook in non stick frying pan with a little water until done through. Wrap with lettuce of choice. *I personally add a little hot sauce on top before wrapping with lettuce, but you could use mustard, or leave plain too!* Super YUMMY
Crock pot Roast beef
Roast beef portioned into 3.5 oz sections (I usually make myself 3-4 portions and throw rest of roast whole in the crock pot for my family)
This is one of my easiest but yummiest recipes while on the vlcd portion of the Hcg diet. I put my 3.5 portions and rest of roast into my crock pot. Season with salt & pepper. Slice up 1 whole onion and put over roast. Add 2-3 big cloves of garlic minced on top of roast. (I like bigger chunks of garlic in the pot too). Add a cup of water or so to pot. Cook until roast is done. *I usually put this in around 9 am and it is done by 12-1pm for lunch. If you don’t eat the onions then you can have a veggie with your pot roast. Or eat the onions as your veggie portion!*
3.5oz ground beef
½ can diced tomatoes (or fresh diced if you cannot find canned w/out sugar added)
Cook ground beef in non stick pan with a little water. When done add a little water, diced tomatoes, 1/2tsp Garlic powder, 1/2tsp onion powder, ½ tsp paprika, ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, & about 1-2tsp chili powder. Mix well and let simmer for a couple minutes. Eat with melba toast! Enjoy!
Spicy/Hot Onion Rings
1 medium onion
Melba toast crushed into powder
Frank’s Original Hot sauce *could substitute milk if you don’t want them too spicy*
Put crushed melba toast and a little of each spice into a ziplock bag and shake up. Cut Onion into medium thickness rings. Dip rings into hot sauce and coat. Put hot sauce-coated onion rings into bag of seasoned crumbs and shake. Bake on foil lined cookie sheet in 400 degree oven until done. Maybe 10 minutes.
*I use the Hot sauce because in my opinion it helps the crumbs to stick better to the onion than they do when using your Tablespoon of milk*
One way to make yummy, easy meals while on VLCD is to make aluminum foil packets and pop them in the oven. You can do chicken breast/juice of lemon, garlic and you choice of herbs (can even add asparagus if you want) You could do a spicy shrimp with garlic, spices, etc. Fish + spices…or whatever you prefer. Put on a piece of aluminum foil big enough to make into a little “pouch” and bake in oven on cookie sheet for about 20-30 minutes on 350 degrees! Super easy, super yummy, and virtually NO clean up!

1/3 cup Bragg's Amino
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup apple cider vinger
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp oregano
1/4 tsp thyme
1 tsp basil
1 Tbsp parsely
1/4 tsp celery salt
1/2 packet of stevia
I use this on top of my lettuce salad or I marinate my chicken.
1 Tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes or more for spicer seasoning
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Add all ingredients to a small container or recyle an old spice container. Shake Add 1/2 to 1 tsp or more to your liking to you 100g of meat. Add some water and let simmer for a few minutes.
Or add 2-3 Tbsp to 1 lb of meat.
