If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
Title says it all.
![]() I'm 2 days postpartum and BP is still high when I'm sitting up. But is totally great when laying on my left side. Just wondering when it will go down. God bless!

About a month.
And it helped me to stay AWAY from st John's wart. It's supposed to be good for keeping ppd away, but it can raise bp. It gave me major chest pain. :-( |

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
I had it 2x's. Both times it was significantly lower within a couple days and totally back to normal by my 6wk check. (I didn't check it after leaving the hospital and between the 6wk check. It was low enough that they were not worried about it.)

My BP is typically on the lower side, but when I had severe PIH it took 4-6 weeks for it to return to normal.

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
My BP went scary high, especially in labor, at the end of my pregnancy with DS. It was right back to normal the day after I gave birth.
My BP is creeping up again this time. My MW wasn't concerned last week, but this week could easily be another story.

When I had HELLP, it took a few days, but the second time around, it just crept up and then pretty much dropped right down a day or two after delivery.

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
I had gestational hypertension this last time (160s/110s), I got it around 33 weeks and it was gone right after the placenta was delivered (38 weeks). They monitored me for the 3 days in the hospital, it was good at my 2 week and 6 week pp appts.
