Huh, weird. I don't think that I've EVER averaged 98 or higher. The only time I've had my thyroid checked was at my prenatal bloodwork with this current pregnancy, and I came back with an "almost" underactive thyroid, but not underactive enough to need medication. My charts are in my signature from over six years ago, now I'm curious to go look at them, lol.

ETA: The several most recent charts have a pre-O range of 97.0 to 97.5 and a post-O range of 97.5 to 98.0, so yeah, there's no way I'll average higher than 98.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the Dr. Oz statement either - my bbt pretty much never hits 98, and I've seen like, a gazillion charts on FF with temps under 98 for the whole month, including tons of pg ones. You can search the chart gallery there to take a look-see :-)

I'm not discounting the importance of thyroid or anything, but I think most likely you'd have to look at temps plus other symptoms.

Oh, and I have also wondered what breastfeeding does to bbt. I've never researched it, but I have wondered if it pushes temps down...

I'd love to know the answer to the thermometer question myself. Maybe I'll go look on the thermometer company's website...
