Resources for whole word reading?

We are using abeka which is great, but my son is so precise that reading with letter sounds is throwing him off sometimes. We have sight word flash cards, but I'm wondering if there's something else we can do for whole word/ whole language reading. Tia!

Use scholastic.com book wizard to find book levels and then get the titles at your library.

I've found pinterest to be great for fun games, worksheets and other creative ideas for this sort of thing.
