got it and Steven came home and wanted to complete all of his homework for the week I'm wondering why he didn't qualify for Unit 1 in Read Well. I know he will be fine in Prelude A, however he's known all of his letter names and sounds since before he was 3. And isn't that what all the preludes deal with? I can't remember exactly (since it's been 2 years since I taught it). Maybe he has the testing anxiety that I have Oh and I hope you don't think I'm questioning you on his placement, just a concerned mommy. I know he will sail through the preludes and be just fine. thanks Erica

Hi Erica, He does know all the letters and sounds. He also knew some words. He didn't pass the smooth and bumpy blending part of the Part 2 of the placement which places him in Prelude A. However, I completely understand where you're coming from. Would it be possible for you to bring him in a couple minutes early on Monday, maybe 8:10 or so and I can do the second part of the assessment again with him? He was originally tested by a staff assistant. I know we have room in the Unit 1 group if we need to move him up. How does that sound? I appreciate your help this morning. And no worries about raising your concerns. I completely understand where you're coming from. Have a good weekend. Nikki

Man I could use a hug right now... or a cry. I haven't had one of these feelings in awhile... wonder if AF is coming. It's not often I respond emotionally to situations.

he is my guy that just doesnt like to read and sound things out...he just wants to know what the word is.

okay so is it bad that I want to teach him to the test I know the exact words that they test them on for that unit

I just think that it was odd that the staff assistant tested him, and it was done when he was in jump start two weeks before school started. Most of the other kids didn't get tested until the 2nd week into actual school (I tested them last Thursday)

Thank you guys. We looked at the one they had at walmart and it was just about the same price as the amazon ones and they only had one at walmart. I just ordered all three (dh said to) and they are SOOOOO excited. When we were at walmart just now he said "mommy, lets go home and see if the power ranger suits came yet..I want the one w/a "macks" (mask). I ordered them right when we came through the door. DH got a new phone too..I get the iphone though. I spent my yarn pp on it. Good choice for spending i'd say Especially if I get lots of sexts from you Fi!
