Any librarians on DS?

Hi All,
I am thinking about heading to back to school to become a librarian, but recently our government cut funding to our libraries and I am wondering what affect it has had on the field. Any librarians out there on DS?

If so, what type of librarian are you?
How do you see the librarian skill set transferring to information management, as many school are now calling it?

I am excited about going back to school, but leery of spending 2 years and maybe having to move to find work.
