Makes borrowing things less stressful.
For example: Yesterday we lost a single magnetic ball that was part of a kit we borrowed from the teaching library. It was found later that night because there are only so many places it could be

Re: Reasons to live with less

-requires less space
-more money for "experiences" like zoo, trips, etc
-avoid the snowball effect (like you bought the XYZ, and now need the adapters, car charger, upgraded memory, case, extra case, stand, etc)
-you learn more. If I didn't care about our finances I never ever would have made hm tortillas or sewed diapers. It's actually fun.
-lower expectations. Once you have a lot, give a lot, need a lot... you expect that. But if you NEVER go overboard on birthdays or holidays, then it's not a big deal.
-makes the holidays A LOT less stressful

LOVE this! I'm going to expand on the concept. When you realize that you don't have to buy books, you can use the library. This saves money, space, and also opens up opportunities to reads books that you never would have bought for yourself. I've read so many books about random topics and from from unknown authors because I decided to stop cramming shelves full of books (no matter how much fun a used bookstore trip is!) and just use the library.

It brings a sense of calm. I feel like I can breather easier and deeper when I'm not stressing about the piles of junk that need to be cleaned, organized, stored, etc. Also brings control. You can barely change the media, the economy, other people's attitudes, etc. but you can do a lot to influence your family to appreciate real, good things vs. material things that are bought in the hopes of bringing happiness.

I thought of another - you can show off the things you truly love and enjoy the most.

Great one! I found stuff I treasured that I had sitting on the floor behind other stuff. Proudly displaying that yet still having an uncluttered dresser and floor is awesome.
