4 month old drink from cup?
I haven't been able to get DS2 to take a bottle. Wish I'd tried earlier - he'll be 4 months soon. I had a LC come help me with the bottle and she said starting at 4 months you can start teaching them to drink from a cup. I only need him to take one feeding once or twice a week so a cup might be fine.
Anyone know how I go about teaching him? Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum Advertisement |

Re: 4 month old drink from cup?
Just let him try until he gets it. I would think he wouldn't be successful right away, but my daughter started drinking from a cup when she was 6 months and people thought I was crazy. She had no more bottles when she was 10 months old.

Re: 4 month old drink from cup?
My DD drank from a soft spout sippy at that time. She didn't have bottles either. We just kind of let her play with it, and while she was chewing on it she discovered milk in there. I think it took her a week or two to get it down. At about 6 months we switched to a straw cup and was able to drink from it almost immediately.

Re: 4 month old drink from cup?
I know she didn't get a lot but my 4 1/2 mo old already wants sips of water my my big cup. I hold it up and she opens her mouth and I pour a little in and she swallows! It may take a little bit but I'm sure you can do it either with a sippy or a small cup. Good luck!

Many breastfed babies can master a straw cup early on.
