Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Wow, I had no idea there was such variability! As you likely know, being in Canada we do not pay for health care (well we do through our taxes but it isn't assessed by what care we receive) so we only paid for incidentals, parking, maybe vitamins and that's about it. Nothing really noteworthy. Even my private room and prescriptions were covered by dh insurance.

#1 - CS with induction and 4 day postpartum stay - bill was $22k, I paid $250 copay
#2 - VBAC with only pit for 4 hours and 48 hr stay - bill was $16k, I paid ~ $900 #3 - We are planning a homebirth. It is costing us ~ $3000 with everything, including supplies. My most natural birth is costing me the most money....and I am perfectly happy to pay it!

It's always been about $3000. Either in hospital with insurance or at home with a midwife.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
For the actual birth/hospital stay? My ODD was $800. YDD was around $4000. Total cost for the insurance was around $70,000.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
so far I have paid 300 and i am 12 wks. Thats just for my first appt...I met my 300 deductible for the year, so till Jan it should be a lot cheaper. WE are thinking it should be around 3000 for everything.

Ds1 was $0. I had state insurance.
DS2 should have been $5000 (my annual max OOP), but I lost my insurance 10 days before he was born. Total bills were over about $40k including an emergency c-section, NICU care, and 2 days in the hospital. We ended up filing bankruptcy over it.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Our bills (hospital birth with an OB delivery) I think were around $4,800. We have insurance, but we have a high deductible plan. Luckily, we have a Health Savings Account that my husband's employer contributes money into. I think we were able to use maybe $2,400 of money that was contributed by the employer. The rest we covered ourselves.
