maybe that'd be an idea for a mama who knits but doesn't sew!
Oh, that is cuuuute!

There are TONS of knit/crochet play foods and toys on Ravelry, it's the best gift idea website for those of us fiber DSers!

I'm really not a mean mom, but until my kids can learn to care for their things- they won't be seeing any new. I'm steeeerict!

Re: Let's talk handmade/fluffy Christmas gifts

Last year I made bean bags - different sizes, fabrics, and insides (rice/quinoa/beans/etc). She didn't really like them then (18mo) but now loves them (2 yrs). I made out of upcycled sweaters 5 fish with magnets and a fishing rod, and a quiet book. The quiet book was the one that took the longest, but it's only occasionally used. I want to try again when she's older and do more interesting pages.

This year I'm not sure I'll have the time/energy to make much. I'm knitting a Christmas sweater for both my girls, and I'd like to make some play food. Next Christmas she's getting a kitchen so this Christmas / birthday I'd like to get some food / dishes / etc. in preparation.

Let's keep the ideas coming!

Re: Let's talk handmade/fluffy Christmas gifts

We are doing handmade and used gifts. I don't see any point in buying new when I can get it cheaper at a resale, consignment, or thrift shop. Perfect for my tweens who want cd's and electronics, and the little girls who don't know if their toy is used or not. Now to find a used balance bike...

I am making a play kitchen from our old entertainment center and crocheting a bunch of play food. I am also working on blankets for both girls.
I really need to learn how to knit!
