The man said there was nothing he could do. He has a layer friend that does realty. He's gonna talk with him for help/advice for us. We can't afford an attorney. Also, he's gonna talk to a friend on the co. commisioners board. He'll get back with me when he get's some info. It's doughtfull. Ray says he doesn't wanna start over. Oh, he also said I needed to ask our grouchy neighbor. REALLY don't wanna go there. We'll see what his friends have to say. I'm just sick to my stomach. I'm gonna try to get the time before next week to file that realtor complaint. I appriceate that link!
Thanks for all the support! As you all know, I'm not the best at wording things or spelling. I'm super nervious about this. I need to write apetition. Our land has restrictions, no clovis hooves. When we purchased this place it was to become our mini-homestead. The realitor said any animal. I didn't look at the small print while signing the deed. Cayden't health all rides on this. We need to be raiseing our own meat, dairy, ect. His allergist is confident he would do great with raw cow/goat milk. He would also benifit from grass fed meats, not high hormone soy/grain fed. Who knows what elese. I have to get, crap I forgot, 65%-75% of the neighbors to sign. Most have already said they don't pay attention to the restrictions and we should just get animals. We have 2 plans though. Either get the rules removed and buy the neighboring property, or sell and move on. We REALLY want to stay!I need to get the ball moveing and figure this out. I've neglected it for too long now. If anyone out there reading this could offer tips, experiencees, wording help, a free online form that can be altered to my situation and printed (link), ANYTHING!!!!! I'm in a desperate situation here momas, this has become our home. ![]() TIA!!!!!!!!!!

I also have no idea about templates and such, but would be happy to proof read anything for you, Sarah. Did you ask over at BYC? I think they have a subsection for changing zoning. I bet someone could help you there.

Just curious who has put the restriction on the land?
Is it zoning restrictions? Who will you be taking the petition to? |

I wouldn't have the first clue how to combat that mama. How do they figure out what 75% of the neighbors is? Did they give you an exact acreage on that or # of people?
Hoping this all works out in your favor! Oh and when it's all settled make sure you get a written up permit or letter of approval!

Re: Need serious help here momas!
Oh wow! Thanks for all the help momas!!!! You gals rock!
I'm gonna check over at byc and the links as soon as I get some time to myself. Aparently a HUGE land purchaser bought the land years back and broke it up into parcels to sell. Called it a subdivision and sold. Slaped some restrictions in there as well. I actually talked to them and while they were helpfull with some tips, not really all that much help, kwim. I was only told to get the signatures of % of the neighbors. Not land owners, just go door to door. I have no clue what to even do with it when I'm done? I guess I could call the city council, if I ever have the time to get that far, and see about a meeting. I sure can't do the lawer thing. It's just such a HUGE undertakeing, I'm processing one tiny step at a time. It's horrible timeing as we just started hs this week. Also still swamped with Cayden's specialists. Now winter. Ya know how it's never quite the right time for something. This is one of those things, lol.I REALLY appriceate the help you all have offered!

Who have you spoken to?
I would contact your city planning department before the major undertaking of gathering signatures. |

Definitely do this! We had a different situation completely, regarding a business going in nearby, but anyways, we called the city planning commission and my DH and I spoke on the phone with them and then he went down and they walked him through the entire process. Even the city attorney contacted us and told us we could appeal the decision and that we should, again, contact the planning commission. My only advice is BE NICE. Not that you wouldn't, I don't know you at all. But, be pleasant and respectful to the city office, even if they are telling you something you don't want to hear. They may work with you and help you out if they don't feel its confrontational. I'd keep the details to a minimum at first and just try to find out information about what you could do, then after you've dealt with one person, you could share some background, etc.Hope this helps!
