Re: Leappad2 or Innotab2

I would love to have an ipad but it is definitely out of our budget. Really, the Leappad2 is stretching it, by the time you buy a cover, etc. That's why I want to make sure I research them.

I don't really mind if the camera in the Innotab2 isn't quite as good as the LeapPad2. I think I'm going to have to find a store that has both on display and play with them

I agree with going with a real tablet with a good case. Dd was 7 and got a Nook tablet. DS is 4 and has an iPod touch. These will grow with them and have much more versatility.

Re: Leappad2 or Innotab2

If it were me, I'd just get a refurbished iPod touch and buy a good case for it. Fisher price actually makes a case for young kids. Once you buy a few game cartridges, apps and cases for the LeapPad or the InnoTab you're going to be spending just as much. The games for the LeapPad/InnoTab are expensive. You can get loads of free apps for the iPod, and some really good games for under $5. Plus, you're getting so much more with an iPod.

DS has a Leap Pad and never plays with it. He prefers DH's iPad2. We bought the Leap Pad to get DS off the iPad, lol, which only worked until DS realized there were less games. I'm not even sure where the Leap Pad is now. Same for the Gameboy.

For DD, we'll probably just get her a refurbished iPad rather than mess with trying to find an "educational" option. They just aren't worth it.
