Re: Military Care Packages - need ideas

When my DH was there he said that there was an abundance of toiletries from care packages, so he told me not to send them. He liked magazines, games (he specifically asked for Monopoly and a new soccer ball, their old one had been torn up by being kicked into the barbed wire one too many times.) He worked with some international forces and found that Twinkies were a sort of currency- ask someone to do you a favor and slide them a twinkie and it would be done immediately- so I also sent him a lot of twinkies.

Re: Military Care Packages - need ideas

I used to make themed packages for my DH and his brother (one in the Navy, one in the Marines).

One summer I sent a 4th of July BBQ package with American flag napkins, an apron, a chef hat, a spatula, some kiddie hamburger and fries play food, and some snacks likes chips and candy. My brother in law sent pictures back of them having a BBQ in the Iraq desert.

Another good theme package is movie night. A DVD, some microwavable popcorn, soda, candy, stuff like that. I've also done a relaxation package where I sent a soothing CD, a rice sock (to heat up in the microwave), headphones, some cozy PJs or socks, a new pillow case, and a nice scented candle.

Lots of good ideas online!
