They are expensive! I might check out the local places and see what else is available.

I think those cowl style round scarves are really pretty and in a neutral color would be easy for her to throw on when she runs out to a birth - plus, they are a bit more unique than a regular scarf.

ETA: the birth doll would be great - it can be a teaching model for her when she talks to younger siblings. I plan to get one when I become a midwife for just that reason.
She has an office and is in the process of opening a birthing center. Maybe something practical for that? She also loved the boob hats, so maybe I'll add a couple of those in there.

I thought of a felted purse. I know it probably wouldn't look too great if I tried to sew a lining in a regular one.

I looked through the other day but nothing jumped out at me.

I thought about a spa gc too. I feel bad that I didn't get any pics of her and the baby!

Link posted! It does get cold here, too!

I think I'm going to call her secretary tomorrow and ask her some questions about what she thinks she'd like.

You might have to log in to the lionbrand site to see the picture but it's free and the pattern is free too.
That's gorgeous!

Re: Midwife gift

I debated and ended up making her the doll. She loved it and said it was the best gift she's ever got. She was so excited about it giving birth, complete with placenta. Plus I had hats I made for my son at the hospital that she loved and I made mini ones for the doll that she thought were hilarious. Plus I gave her a gift card to a restaurant.

Re: Midwife gift

I was working on her until the minute I left for my appointment, so the only pic I got was a quick cell phone one as I was leaving the office and realized I didn't get any pictures.

I sucked at the facial embroidery. I wish I had taken more time to work on it. Her hair is messy too and I didn't lay it down before taking the pic. I guess she really looks like she's in labor that way! Hopefully she has her in the office when I go for my 6 week checkup and I'm going to ask to get pics of the rest so I have them.
