Borrow a police officer costume and stand by the side of the road pointing a hair dryer at passing cars.

Re: What do you do when cars speed down your street?

The speed limit is 50 out in front of my house, so I don't do anything. 50 or 60 is going to hurt my kids. So instead I focus all of my attention on getting them to the car safely.

When they were little, I would take them out one at a time and get them buckled in, now at 5, 4 and 20 months the older ones know that they are under no circumstance allowed past the end of the car when we walk out. If they did not follow this rule every single time, I would go back to taking them out 1 or 2 at a time again.

I've been known to stand in the street in frint if them so they have no choice but to slow down ir stop.

Police have been called numerous times. They never patrol that street. It is a school and park zone. I lives there for 14 years. Police were there 4-5 times total.

I would take great pleasure in parking right across from it (so not able to swerve) and watch speeders fly through the street and hit it going 70km/h in a 50km/h zone
I'm not sure how you could do it but I was thinking adding speed bumps. Those huge kinds where you total your car if you hit them going more than 15 mph.

Are you in America? Contact your district's councilman, address your concerns with him/her, and ask about the city/town adding a SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY sign or something somewhere on the street.

I wouldn't bother calling the police. Having worked at a police department, it is very difficult to catch speeders in neighborhoods. Usually cars look like they are going faster than they really are and most PD's will give you at least 10 mph over the speed limit before they ticket. And to be honest it was a joke at the PD when someone would call in a complaint and mention that children were going to be injured or killed because they thought that this was the only way the police would do anything about it. I agree with the previous posters about playing in the backyard or drawing a line. It's easier to control your kids than control the actions of others.
