Re: Cheap Non-Handmade Gifts That Don't Look Cheap
For children I always do crayons and coloring books.
For adults like aunts and uncles or teachers I hit up chocalate stores on sale like Getrude Hawk. Maybe a small glass dish with candy in it.

Re: Cheap Non-Handmade Gifts That Don't Look Cheap
For friends kids this year for all the birthdays we did "tub toys" theme...
$1 expandable washcloth (dollar tree) $1 pack of glow sticks (awesome in a dark bathroom at night) $1 can of shaving cream (awesome for the kids to make shapes etc with) Walmart for the rest: bubble bath, $1 pack of elmo bath color tablets, bathtub crayons or paints etc... We didn't do actual toys though so that most of these were things that would be used up. Add in a full sized bath towel if budget allows. __________________ I like this one, too! Wish we had more little kids to buy for!

Re: Cheap Non-Handmade Gifts That Don't Look Cheap
Not sure how cheap it is... but I love the idea off kitchen themed gifts..
Spaghetti dinner basket: Colander, box of spaghetti, jar of sauce, parm cheese, a wooden spoon or a ladel... everything can go into the colander as the "basket" and a few sheets of tissue paper between the items. Ooh, another year we got a fresh baked loaf of bread with a purchased box soup mix. Made for an awesome quick dinner! - even if you didn't bake the bread yourself, you could get a fancier type of fresh bread from a local bakery and this whole gift would come in under $10.

Another thought. Our dollar trees have Bette Crocker brand kitchen things - measuring spoons and cups, cutting board, kitchen shears, collanders, etc. Great stuff for $1 each that would make an awesome gift.

Re: Cheap Non-Handmade Gifts That Don't Look Cheap
Love this thread!
I only read the first few replies so far but I dislike the Avon bath paint products. Someone gave them to me and I gave them away after we tried them once. Agree w/ pretty much everyone about the kichen stuff...while we have too many kitchen items at the moment there are a couple of items that we almost never get around to getting but would be super useful. Finally picked up a set of good quality measuring cups & spoons from Kohls w/ a discount and we love them. Also, a good quality peeler. One of the best gifts ever! We lost our first one but found some nice ones at Ikea...they were $4.99 though so not the cheapest. My extended family would always love food, homemade or not. Nuts, chocolate, treats etc. Socks! I love socks or when someone gets my LO's socks... I don't always bother buying socks for myself so my pairs are limited. I have a few pairs from family & friends and I LOVE putting them on. Always remind me of the person who gave me the pair too. Fuzzy socks too.
