Another gift idea if you live in an area where it snows quite a bit:

Take a plastic storage container and fill it with a scarf, hat, mittens, fake carrot, 2 sticks, corn cob pipe, and some rocks = snowman kit! Perfect for kids and you should be able to get all of it at the dollar store and outside. My Aunt made me one when I was younger and I loved it, she also threw in some spray bottles and food coloring so we could make 'snow paint'.

My daughter is totally going to get this for Christmas this year. I wonder where I could get spray food coloring??

We filled up the bottles with water and added a few drops of liquid food coloring for our 'snow paint'. Super easy and cheap!

Anyone know of easy Barbie Doll clothes patterns? My dd is just getting into them (no flames), and I'm thinking some extra clothes would be great.

Re: Homemade Christmas gift ideas?

This year I'm making a Princess and the Pea set for my daughter. I already made the cloth doll and am going to sew up some blanket/mattresses for her to stack. I'll have my husband make a twig ladder and I'll make a little green pea from wool roving. I already got a bargain book on Amazon to go with the set.

Another thing I've made for my kiddos before which was a big hit was a set of felt cookies, topped with bead sprinkles. I just used embroidery thread to sew together brown felt circles (the tops had different colored "icing") and stuffed them to give them a bit of shape. I used some scrap felt to make "dough" for pretend rolling.

I already have things for my daughter's stocking, but I'm also going to make an I Spy bag for my son - fill it with rice or beans or something, and a bunch of little toys or whatever to try and find, along with a key so he knows what to look for.

A little dolly diaper bag would be cute, maybe with some little cloth diapers. If you're the baby wearing type you could make a little doll carrier for your daughter.

Hm... I have lots of ideas because I try to make stuff too and I have an almost-five-year-old! I've made crayon rolls, felt fishing set, dancing ribbons, peg dolls, etc. Good luck!

Something like that would be great, but it seems most bookshelves are about 12" deep, so furniture would not really fit well.
