Ladies,

I thought maybe I'd do it again. I have quite a few babies to make between now Christmas and I hope to provide some inspiration for Mamas to make their ow and share the love. Please join in and share!!!! I started 2 dolls today. I will be sharing a 16" jointed doll and a 12" traditional style. ![]() Advertisement

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
Thanks for doing this Aimee! Can you share a general list of supplies we'll need for those of us not buying the Weir Kits. Thank you. Looking forward to this!

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
LOVE this!
I really want to get or make one for my DD and DS. I was thinking of just buying a mama made body from DFH but maybe you'll inspire me!

Let's see for a 12-16" Doll 3' doll making needle, 5" is nice too but you can get along with just 3" Regular needle(hand sewing) about 1/4-1/2 yard cotton interlock skin 2" cotton tubing gauze for the head about 29" Waxed Dental Floss Skin tone thread Embroidery floss for the eye color and Mouth 4ozs Wool Batting or you can use poly fill. wool is so much nicer 4ozs of yarn for the hair, Boy hair takes less around 3ozs

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
The Weir kits are about $35 with shipping and that's not bad to spend on your first one. they don;t have to be perfect.

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
Thank you for the list! I have most of those things already. I don't have the cotton tubing gauze or yarn for the hair. Also, where do you like to buy your wool. I've got some from Weir that I bought to stuff rag dolls and stuffed animals I've made for DD, now that I've tried using carded wool I can never go back to polyfill...the wool is so dreamy and truly makes a difference. I need to buy more but shipping is almost as much as the wool and I really hate to pay $30 in order to get $16 worth of wool. Is there someplace else to order besides weir? I've had no luck finding a local supplier (I live in farm country so I thought it would be easy to find someone local) - I'd rather pay $30 to someone local for a lb of clean carded wool than to pay $16 to Weir plus $14 shipping. At any rate, let me know if you have a company you recommend or is Weir the best option?

I'm going to get a kit so I can join in!! There's just no way we can afford to buy one new. I'd love to do a jointed baby that would mimic a newborn for my DD but I don't know where I'd start.

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
Are there other places that sell kits other than weir?

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along
Try this mill for the wool batting. I just got some from them and it is dreamy soft, affordable and clean:
http://www.merchantcircle.com/busine...ad?cid=1132881 I think there are some kit sellers on Etsy. You would need to search. I started a thread in the craft section to kind share our progress. I won;t be doing a detailed description of the process more of a sew along. So you would;d need to follow your own pattern and instructions. But sometimes seeing each other's work gives you an ah ha moment and keeps us motivated, kwim?
