We don't do it in the stove but have the old electric poppers. Not the air poppers. It's a metal popper that you put oil and kernels in.

Yes-and thanks to this post I'll be doing it with our coconut oil next time! We have an air Popper that we use sometimes.

Re: Does anyone else pop popcorn on the stove?

We have one of those crappy Orville R. plastic bowls for the microwave and not sure if it is that our our microwave but it only pops half of the kernels or burns it. I knew you ladies would have awesome ideas. I have never done it on the stove but love old school ways. Do you have a certain pan you just use for popcorn and only popcorn or is any pan that is big enough fine?

You want a deep pot with a lid so the kernels don't fly away. We prefer peanut oil. Just heat the oil until it shines, then add your kernels, cover, and keep shaking the pan on the burner. Don't add too many kernels, a couple tablespoons is plenty for one person.

ETA take it off the heat as soon as popping has stopped for three seconds or more, otherwise you will burn your popcorn.

We still cook ours on the stove! You can also microwave popcorn kernels by placing them in a paper bag with a little bit of oil. Light and fluffy without that weird butter powder.
