what do you trick your family into eating?

Well I like to trick myself and my family into eating things. Today I made chili and I included finely chopped chicken hearts (local, free-range!) into the mix so that we couldn't taste them. I've done that with liver also. I also scraped the marrow out of a beef shank bone and added that. Anyone else? I think you can throw anything into chili!

Celery for my husband. I have to finely chop it. It must be practically minced or he will not eat it. My kids are much less picky than my husband. They have their preferences but will pretty much anything. I will also eat pretty much anything. That is part of my weight problem.

I add avacado to things. I mash and then puree it to add to cookies (sub for 1/2 butter). When we ate meat I would add it meatloaf.
I puree fruits and veggies and add it to all kinds of things, especially pancakes or waffles!

I do the usual cutting up veggies fine in sauces, but DH and DD are mostly good about veggies. DH's problem is that he writes off foods that he has never tried, just assuming that he did not like them.
I shamed him into eating sushi and now he loves it.
I got him to try goat cheese by calling it "chevre" and asking him NOT to eat it as it was for my lunches and kind of pricey. I acted all reluctant when he wanted some
I told him kale was spinach "but youre used to baby spinach, this is just grown up spinach thats why it looks funny."
And when in doubt, add bacon! Green beans and brussel sprouts go over as long as there's bacon involved.
My next project is indian food, labeled "too spicy" lol. So far he loves naan (aka "tortillas that came out funny, i myst have let them rise too long") and i think butter chicken will be a hit if i can convince him its asian or italian :-/

I hide all kinds of stuff. I make kefir smoothies for DH and "he does not like kefir" DD gags on all kinds of textures so I put spinach in smoothies. I puree chicken in stock with veggies & noodles because DD "doesn't like chicken". I make pureed veggie soup w/cheese and everyone eats it up and has no idea it is just veggies. I call it cheese soup of course.

Re: what do you trick your family into eating?

I don't really trick - the boys always wanna know what's in their food - but I do look for other ways to get additional things into our diets - like kale or other leafy greens often get added to a smoothie, we use grated veggies in pancakes & breads, puree veggies into pizza or other sauces. It's usually just me or DH cooking & tossing extras/leftovers into whatever we're cooking up.
