U think hip snaps would be necessary with the Velcro too? Normally, if I'm having hip issues with my aplix i just fasten them lower on the aplix strip if that makes sense. This fastens the diaper closer to the thighs and gives me some hip control. Would I still need a hip snap ya think?

I personally found hip snaps necessary even with my Velcro. I tried lowering Velcro and some recommended twisting it but I didn't have success with either technique. :-/ I'd love to hear feedback from others that have tried them bc we are still struggling with leaks.

Re: How do you like your Alva newborns???

Those with leaks: the MF insert with these kinda sucks, I started using it and a kushies cotton doubler (3 layer flannel). Then I made bamboo inserts and they held perfectly till 3 months old

If we were ever to have another child, I would be doing a full stash of these!

I didn't, i velcroed them on an angle, tabs pointing up and that was good enough for my girl

I didn't like them, which made me sad because I wanted to love them. They leaked all the time so I sold them off.

Re: How do you like your Alva newborns???

Mine are leaking horribly still. Even when stuffed with a preemie or orange edge prefold. I do love laying a prefold in and fastening it like a cover, but I was excited to have something stay dry for ds. Of course, he's only about 7.5 pounds so maybe they'll fit better later. I do wish I'd gotten more velcro as I think the one velcro we have fits much better.

Re: How do you like your Alva newborns???

Mine started repelling as soon as I got them. The problem is definitely the suedecloth and not the microfiber. I washed them several times and even stripped with RLR but it didn't really help, so I've just been using them as covers. If I'd ordered more I would probably have contacted the company about it but I only got three so I'm just out $15. I love the fit though, even as covers. They are trim but seem like they would fit for a while.
