Re: I don't want baby's first food to be cereal, suggestions please :)
Mine have all done BLW, I just feed whatever we are eating, I do sometimes help with the messy foods, though. No particular order, or introduction schedule. In fact, DD2 (the one in the pics) first food was pizza- I had it in one hand, her in the other, and had gotten distracted with a phone call- and she grabbed it and started devouring it- this was about 4 months old. When it is just her eating, I usually give her avacado, pears or peaches, strawberries, peas, banana, cheerios, scrambled egg.
This is her at about 5.5 months, and now at just over 6 months. She doesn't fist the cheerios much anymore- she has started pinching them with her fingers kinda like crab claws :-) It's hard to get many pics of her actually in action- as soon as she sees the camera, she freezes and wants to grab it! ![]() ![]() ![]() Advertisement |

Anyone who didn't use commercial rice cereal have problems with iron deficiency? We used rice cereal with my DD, but plan on skipping it for DS.
Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

If you breastfeed try mashed ripe banana mixed with bm, but I would wait til 6 months before introducing solids.

Buy some whole grains, blend and boil. Serve. I agree that mashed banana and fruits and veggies are the way to go though

That's my question too. I keep reading places that you should feed baby one food for a whole week, then introduce another food each week while mainitaining the foods prior. Is that necessary??

Our first foods were roast chicken legs (bone in), broccoli florets, avocado, banana (leave some skin on but don't cut it) and roast root vegetable fingers.

I started getting my LO to just taste the flavour of fruits with their juices or residues (he is still kinda young, but i would hold half a grape and have him suck it and if i was eating something id have him try it. in a few weeks i'm starting with avocado, banana and cereal. He has tried squished banana from a banana bread i made and loved it.
