Perinium question, possible TMI

I am six weeks into the recovery from my third birth. With this birth I had a second degree tear (first one). When I check my bottom now, it feels like I have no perinium, like there is my vaginal opening and then RIGHT next to it is my anus. This is not how my bottom was before this birth. I kept thinking that it would feel more normal over time, but it hasn't yet. Is this my new normal or is it something I should bring up with my midwife.

I've never had bad tearing, but I'd talk to your midwife if you feel things haven't healed correctly. Is is possibly that your vagina has prolapsed a little?

I don't know if this is what may have happened to you or not, but my tear separated (after being stitched at baby's birth) and I had to have it repaired by my OB-after tearing pretty badly w. my first. I didn't know that it wasn't normal since I hadn't had any children yet, but my OB saw it and said it had separated. It healed up much better after she fixed it. It would def. be worth mentioning to your MW I think!

I would mention it to your MW...doesn't sound normal. I had a 2nd degree tear with my first and a first degree tear with this one. If it is a separation you'll want to get it fixed sooner rather than later!

I had this same thing, saw an OB, and was told that I wasn't torn at all. That my hymen had just been really thick and not completely broken until the delivery. So what I always assumed was oerinium was actually hymen.

I'm befuddled, and will seek a second opinion. Bc that sounds daffy. Lol. I look forward to hearing what you find out.
