Re: noooo tooth turning gray :(

The discoloration alone may not be an issue - other than being unfortunate to see - but definitely watch for any sensitivity in the tooth, and especially keep an eye where the gum meets his lip under those teeth for any sign of blisters (a sign of infection/abscess). The greying can be benign, but could also be a sign of nerve damage, which can lead to the tooth dying.

Re: noooo tooth turning gray :(

DD did a header into a coffee table when she was a toddler and it made her front tooth turn gray. It later had to be pulled because it was causing an abscess.

I hope it's nothing and it doesn't get abscessed and isn't a big deal.

Re: noooo tooth turning gray :(

that happened to me when i was about 2.5 or so. i was walking on the ice with my dad and slipped and fell. the tooth turned gray, and stayed like that for a year or so, until it had to be pulled (i don't know why, i was only 4 but i assume it was infected). my permanent teeth came in without trouble though, and they look just fine.

ds had a bad fall and hit his teeth when he was about the same age (also with his dad, walking on the ice with his hands in his pocket. grrrr.) i threw a fit about it, and it was definitely scary looking. but his tooth is fine and isn't even discolored now. it's definitely not pretty, but the nice thing about baby teeth is that they're not around forever. the permanent teeth are the ones i worry about. if it does turn gray, and stays like that for awhile, i'd get her in to a dentist, just to make sure there isn't any infection or anything that would cause it to need to be pulled. otherwise, i'm sure she'll be fine and worst case, she'll have a slightly icky looking tooth for a few years until her permanent teeth come in.

It's a baby tooth. It will fall out in a couple eats anyway, and the permanent one will be fine. I had that happen to a couple teeth as a kid

Re: noooo tooth turning gray :(

DS #1's front tooth did this after he hit it on something. It stayed that way until it fell out which was 1-2 years later. Now it's gone and a big tooth is there. It's really not a big deal. It'll be okay.

Mine did that too when I was little, but it turned back to normal. It also happened to one of my kids the same way, but I can't remember which kid now. Darn mommy brain!
