When to tell the kids?

I told my kids this morning and their reaction was funny in a different way. They think that there is always a baby in mommy's tummy and every so often a new one comes out. So they basically think that I am always pregnant. I've told them that's not how it works, but they can't wrap their mind around it. Their way makes much more sense to them. So they are always expecting a new baby at some point. So when I told them we would be having a new baby in the summer, they were like, "Yeah, we know. What's taking so long??"

We told our kids when we told everyone else. We've been talking with them about another baby for a while, so while they were excited, they knew it was coming.

They've come to both my ultrasounds so far and loved seeing the baby's heartbeat

I'm thinking about telling my DD (6, almost 7) at Christmas, by putting out a stocking for the baby. I already told my 19 month old, but he doesn't understand.
