Is it ok to nurse after getting all happy gassed up? What painkillers are safe for nursing? Anyone done this before?

Yes it's safe to nurse after having laughing gas. As soon as they take the mask off you're fine. Take ibuprofen or Tylenol. Any other medication they can prescribe will be a narcotic. I used to be a dental assistant, so I know a little bit you should be just fine with Tylenol or Advil.

I was PG during mine and never even had gas. I just had the novicain. I also did not need pain meds after. I am sure that you will be able to nurse right away.

I had a root canal while bf'ing my oldest. They did prescribe me a pain killer, but it was safe to take while nursing. I had another root canal two weeks ago and the endodontist (different than the first time) just told me to take ibuprofen and I was totally fine with just that. I didn't use laughing gas for either one, it makes my anxiety worse.

So is Novocain safe during BFing? I have to get a cavity filled later this month and was wondering about this as well.

I got my wisdom teeth out while I was nursing. They numbed me completely and gave me laughing gas. I took prescription ibuprofen afterward.
