Re: The importance of rest
I really wish our society was more accommodating to moms. I have had to cut my planned maternity leave 2 weeks short because I do not have enough saved time for a full 8 weeks of maternity leave. I happen to work in a state where paid maternity leave is not mandatory, and must use vacation, sick and personal time. Because of this, I also have to work until my due date (and you cannot imagine just how tired I am!).

Re: The importance of rest
Sounds great! I don't live near family, though, and my husband only gets 2-3 days off work. We'll have to see how much rest I get when the baby comes.

Re: The importance of rest
Copy, cut and paste for the "recipe for a good pregnancy." I swear, it seems as though only moms TRULY get how important rest is nowadays. I feel like everyone expects me to do more than I will (Ive had to make VERY firm boundaries around my rest/naps to protect my own sanity) and Ive also gotten into the habit of making myself appear to do less than I do during my personal time (i.e., lying lol) b/c I feel like if people knew I had the energy to, say.... exercise (i.e., necessary for a healthy pregnancy) they would also expect me to cook full course meals everyday, attend functions every weekend, hang out late with friends etc. Ive become VICIOUS about protecting my rest!!!! Its SO important :-)
