tummy sleeping

How old is old enough? I know back is best, but my seven month old ALWAYS rolls over to sleep on his stomach. I roll him back over and he either immediately rolls back onto his tummy or wakes up.

What I read and researched said that when babies are strong enough to roll over, they are strong enough to support themselves sleeping on their tummies. We always put my son to sleep on his back, but if he rolled over we let him be.

If he's rolling on his own let him be. With mine they wouldn't sleep on their backs so they were on their tummies from the day we came home

Thanks for replying. I have been researching it online and so far there is nothing that says he absolutely shouldn't sleep on his stomach. I just wanted some reassurance that other babies have done it and been fine. Lol

Re: tummy sleeping

Do a search for tummy sleeping under the Parenting sub-forum. Lots of mamas have posted about their tummy sleeping babies here. Mine was one of them. Neither one of us would have gotten any sleep otherwise.

When they are strong enough to roll themselves over they can then safely sleep however they choose.

Re: tummy sleeping

My ped told me that if they can roll themselves to their tummy then they were strong enough to turn their heads from side to side on their tummy and it was fine to let them sleep that way.

Re: tummy sleeping

my NB is a tummy sleeper. she WILL NOT sleep on her back at all except in her carseat. she can already lift her head up when on her tummy so im fine with it. both my boys were tummy sleepers as well
