Thank you for this. I post something every year to remind my FB friends and this was perfect.

Can someone answer this for me? I'm confused. I've been putting my DS's in their carseats with fleece or sherpa clothing, but it's SO tight when I go to strap them in, I can barley get it clipped, like it needs to be adjusted/loosened. Is it ok to loosen at all, or if it needs to be loosened they are in too much clothing and need to shed a layer?

Re: Snowsuits/puffy coats and car seats don't mix! How to keep your kid warm AND saf

Thank you thank you!! Lots of great info!! I have a 2 and 3 year old and we just got back from 4 years in Hawaii so this is ALL NEW!! So i've been freaking out a bit!! I'm thinking I might try and make a fleece bunting suit for my 2 year old, unless were going to the store we only go out to drop DD of at preschool and it's a pain to undress and redress both kids in the car, this way I could just keep him in that and a fleece jacket on top and then just worry about dd!!

It's okay to loosen for layers. Just not puff. Obviously a t-shirt plus dense fleece is going to be bigger than just the t-shirt alone.

I just want to say thank you for the great blog about this so very clearly showing why puffy winter coats and harnessed car seats don't work together.

I posted the link to your blog on my Facebook page saying how glad I was that someone shared this info with me many years (and kids) ago so I shared it myself. I got lots of comments about how helpful it was and it was shared by other posters 3 times.
