It never gets too cold here. In the high 20s is probably the coldest it gets. We later and get out anyway.

When its over 100 with super high humidity we stay inside. I just can't take it, and I worry about the kids dehydrating.

We play in the rain and the mud. We would play in the snow if we ever got it.

Re: Weather and sending the kids outside to play

We have a pretty mild climate here, so we get out in the yard just about every day. And we don't worry too much about having the appropriate clothing, it's more important to have fun. Obviously we intervene if necessary, but I think it's good for kids to learn to take responsibility for their own comfort. Rain, or a little snow? NO problem. Hail? Woo hoo, so fun. I am cautious about heat and sunscreen out not staying out too long though.

I don't let my kids go out in sleet, hail, or thunderstorms, but otherwise if they want to go out, they can go out. I'm not even super picky about attire. We love playing in the rain.

We just go in if we're uncomfortable. Dd is much tougher than I am . We definitely go out in the rain; we'd be stuck inside for like 9 months straight here!

Re: Weather and sending the kids outside to play

You guys are much better than me. We go out no matter how hot it is but once it hits about 50 I get too cold! My kids still need supervised outside so we stay in.

Re: Weather and sending the kids outside to play

Pretty much all weather, except thunderstorms. We may not stay out for an extended period of time if it is extremely hot or cold, but I don't care if the kids want to go play outside. Dirt, wet, sweat, etc. doesn't really bother me.

If it's not pouring, freezing rain, windchill advisory or 110 degrees then we go outside. We have plenty of things to keep us warm, etc.
