The only assembly it needs is unfolding and popping the pieces in place. It is really simple in my experience (I've built two so far). It would have to be a really big suitcase but you could probably do it. We had big suitcases that would definitely fit one. Or if you traveled with a duffel bag it would fit in a large duffel.

Ours came in the paper a couple weeks ago. I have read that they aren't in stores this year but that the cashiers are supposed to have a scan sheet to use them at checkout of you didn't get one...maybe call your target and ask them?
