Re: Insurance doesn't cover prenatal or maternity care...what are my options?
Are you sure it won't cover delivery compications? I work with a bunch of insurance verirfiers at th hospital and I almost always hear themsay "this plan has no maternity coverage unless there are complications"
I do take that to mean that you would pay for a regular c-section...but if you were to have major issues they would cover them. If that's the case, I would go for the birth center option. |

This may vary from company to company, but you definitely want to be sure that you know the details of the coverage inside and out before you make a decision!

Re: Insurance doesn't cover prenatal or maternity care...what are my options?
There is also a birthing center in Richmond. It was set up by my OB (she practices evidence based care) and I *think* there are 3 midwives that staff the birth center. It is right on a hospital campus, so in VERY close proximity should something arise. I risk out of using the center, but my OB is allowing me a TOL after 3 c/s, something that is VERY hard to come by in this area.

Can't help much since we pay out of the pocket when I got pregnant and delivered DS via C/S. BCBS is I think a good option if you're aiming to be under them. Hopefully you'll do a right decision.
