So depressed.

Vent:

I am so tired of looking for a job. I know it's fourth quarter and I am overqualified for several of the positions I have interviewed for. It is beyond tight financially and I am DREADING the holidays. But overall I just can't help think the ONE and only reason I am not being hired is because I am pregnant. I am single and the baby's dad is in jail because of all the horrible things he has done to me...I need a break.
Thanks for listening.

I can't imagine being in your shoes, mama.

Were you working previously? Is there any way you can qualify for unemployment or some level of social assistance?
There's really not much chance of you getting hired anywhere at this point - I've seen your belly pics - that's not an easily hid bump! I mean, I know they're not supposed to not discriminate and not hire you because of being pregnant. But, really, we all know it happens.

Re: So depressed.

So sorry mama. Not a great economy for looking for a job, especially for highly qualified people, because you cost more. I really hope things work out for you!!! DH will be unemployed Dec 10th, hoping to have a new job early January....

I was working for a not-for-profit previously. I started and opened a thrift store to benefit a women's shelter (for victims of domestic violence.) In our state at least, not-for-profits are not required to pay into unemployment so I am not eligible. I have thought about babysitting even but my house is tiny. So frustrated.

I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. I pray provision comes in some form.

and I hope you're able to find something. Maybe retail? with the holidays? It would suck to be on your feet, but might get a position?

Re: So depressed.

I'm so sorry. I worked at Walgreens after having DS and we joked that our manager liked hiring pregnant women, because he always seemed to! I think he knew moms are dependable because they'ree supporting their family. That was my highest paying retail job and got 20% off employee discount. Hope your able to find something soon!
