Re: What nice things will you do for strangers this holiday season?

Last year we were lucky enough to have received a Christmas bonus, half of which I took to Kmart and used to pay someone's layaway (Ironically, the day I was there a guy came up behind me while I was at the layaway counter while the clerk was in back, and when she came back out he interrupted and asked if he could pay MY layaway...I laughed and said I was actually there doing the same thing. It really warmed my heart!)

This year money is tighter than I'd like and I cannot afford any extras...but I'm happy to say that my beautifully talented and big-hearted little girl sold some of her artwork yesterday, which raised $75 to buy toys for the kids at the children's hospital.

Awww...
I just remembered something we did last year - although it was really my BIL/SIL and we were helping. They had a NICU baby and stayed in the Ronald McDonald house for a long time. So last Christmas (the first one their little girl wasn't in the hospital) asked us if we would help them make a meal. It was a lot of fun and we met a bunch of people!

I always pick people off the giving tree at my school (which has children & elderly, I usually do 2 of each) and buy them a good amount of stuff and then we donate food to our local pantry via our big y. This year I'll do that same stuff and I want to list a lot of ds's old clothes and toys on a local swap group site for free and hope someone less fortunate can use them as gifts or whatever bc everything is in excellent condition.

Last week, some friends and I mailed out 8 military care packages to strangers overseas. Before Christmas, we'll adopt a family or two to provide gifts and dinner. If we can find time, we'll also decorate some ornaments to bring to people in nursing homes.
