Stomach Flu...week 4...
Okay I need some other mothers insights.
My yds has had the stomach flu for 3 1/2 weeks now, not for 3 1/2 weeks straight, but off and on. Symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, no appetite, crabby. I haven't noticed a change in his sleeping (unless you count when he wakes up to be sick). He has it for a day or two, is fine for 3-4 days and then has it again, and so on and so on. Saturday I gave up and finally took him to the DR. They did blood work & strep test... all came back normal. I don't know what else to do... anyone have thoughts or ideas?! Or is anyone else going through this.. it's a wicked stomach flu that's in our area and it seems to be a pattern with other to come and go after a couple days, but this long???

Have you tried some probiotics? It might help bring his system back in balance.

I tried the Activia yogurt, but he hates the "berries" in it, so I was going to go buy some plain vanilla tomorrow to try. Is there anything else that has it that I can give him?

Re: Stomach Flu...week 4...
Have you sanitized his tooth brush? Anything that might be recontaminating him?
I would next try eliminating all dairy for a couple days and see if that helps. We use Florastor, at the advice of DS's pediatric GI, for probiotics. The capsules open, and you can put it in applesauce.

Re: Stomach Flu...week 4...
I second the Florastor. We have gotten it before. Ours is not in a capsule it is just a powder in a packet. We had to get it from the Pharmacy but it is over the counter.
