Drooling in an almost 3 year old

I was going to suggest tonsils/adenoids too. DS had his taken out at 2 1/2. He had just stopped drooling a couple months before, but I think they were behind the drooling. (Took him until past 2 to learn to coordinate swallowing around them IMO.)

Thanks for all the replies & reassurance that I'm not totally overreacting to drooling. I'll definitely schedule an appointment.

Wanted to update saw his pediatrician last month and she referred us to a speech therapist. She checked and all his teeth are in, so it wasn't that. We've been reminding him to swallow and it's helped a little, but hopefully the speech therapist will have some better pointers for us at the appointment next week!

I would ask your ped at a check up about it. My first son drooled constantly as an older tot and we found out had a low tone with his jaw and mouth muscles. He was also speech delayed and EI helped us work with him to get him stronger and the drooling stopped when he had good speech for a good bit of time.

oops, just saw your update! I'm glad you have a plan in place now. My first son considered speech work play at that age... blowing bubbles, looking at yourself in the mirror, watching adults look silly when they over-emphasized every syllable. I will hope your kiddo thinks the same way!

My 2.5 ur old drools all the time too. We all say that she has always been the wettest baby. Ever since she was born, drool drool drool...,, I'm always telling her to swallow, and she will, but her Chin is always wet. She is speech delayed too, hmm
