Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?

Mine was gone after 2 weeks bp meds. It was high the week before and during labor, I had a section, it went down right after birth and crept back up 2 days pp so they put me on meds. It went down with the meds, I took them for the 2 week course, and it stayed down from there.

I had BP that was high enough I had to discharge myself (whatever you call it) after DS was born. They wrote me a script for BP meds but all the research I did said there were "inconclusive" results for how the meds passed through breast milk, and I was breast feeding, so I didn't take a single one of those stinking pills. I immediately went on a low-BP diet and started walking a couple miles twice a day. Not only did this drop my blood pressure - within the WEEK - to a healthy level, but it helped some of that baby weight to come off. and then at my pp appointment I had a long conversation with my OB about unnecessary prescriptions. Lol

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?

Thanks for all the input, advice, and information.

The BP seems to be going down slowly. I'm 3 weeks 2 days postpartum. I stopped taking the meds 2 days ago and feel fine. I stopped because I was getting decent BP readings, so I thought I'd go off the meds for a few days and then take my BP again. I'll probably take it later today.

God bless!

I had pre-e and my bp went super crazy high. Probably two months, and I was on meds and weaning myself off after a month and a half. Done with meds at two months, but my bp is different now. It is not considered high, but it used to be 90/70 steadily (like ALWAYS, my whole life) and now it is 120-130/80. My top number was in the high 200 for two weeks+.

I was preeclamptic and I think about 5 weeks post delivery I could stop taking blood pressure meds.
