It depends on the flat you use. A large Birdseye flat will be more absorbent that a small receiving blanket.

How long do you find you go in between changes when stuffing with flats? I love the idea of sewing them to make your own inserts!! I may have to see about doing thins!!

I can leave a diaper on my baby for 3 hrs. It holds overnight too along with a hemp insert. I don't have heavy wetters though.

Good to know!! Thank you!! I tested out a well loved flat this morning on my oldest diaper wearer, and it seemed to go well as an insert! It wasn't too bulky and she did not leak! So far so good!! I now have 12 on the way!! lol

Re: The best 100% cotton, trim, size-adjustable absorbant insert (EVEN MORE action pi
yeah, the way its folded over leaves 12 layers of cotton, 18 if you count the little flap folded over to add absorbency where you need it. A prefold would be 4x8x4 = 16 layers. Comparable absorbency but I find flats much trimmer, and folded this way, its size-adjustable ~ a win-win!

Just bumping this great thread since there has been a lot of padfolding talk with the flats challenge.
