Evie Pants Pattern Help Needed

Okay, there's a ton of knitters here so someone should be able to help me.

I'm using the evie pants pattern, on the short rows it says to knit the first set after the zig zag when the front center measures x amount.

My question is, is the "center front" really what will end up being the back of does the pattern really measure from what will actually be the front of the pants?

No, the center front will be the front. The zig zags and short rows are in the back to make extra room for fluffy bums.

Whoops.

I know the short rows accommodate the fluffy bum in the back. What I was asking was, the pattern says to insert short rows 2" below center front of waist line, and I wasn't sure if I should measure literally from what will be the front or from where I entered zig zag short rows.

Hope I'm making sense, lol!

You measure from below the waistband...where you stopped knitting the ribs and added the increases.

I know.

That wasn't my question but thank you - I probably wasn't making sense.

Got it figured out!

I think she just has you measure from the front since it's easier without the zig zags and short rows. I usually just end up popping a short row in every 5-6 rows or something.

Re: Evie Pants Pattern Help Needed

I'm going to add to this thread with another simple/stupid beginner question! After the zig zag rows before the next short row do I just knit for 1-1.5" she suggests?

Thank goodness for this thread. I was totally hung up in the whole short row placement myself.

Now I can get on with making some longies for DD.
