too big =(

We have an Onboard 35, we got it because my DS grew out of his infant seat pretty early, so we wanted one that would fit longer. Now we have DD in it, and we just bought an Oddessy, but it doesn't really fit in a captain's seat! It's too long and runs into the driver/passenger seats unless we move the seats up a whole bunch (which is uncomfortable for us). So we've removed one captain seat and installed the base using a seat belt on one end of the 3rd row, which means I have to partially climb in to snap the carseat in/out of the base... Does anyone else have other options? DS is in a convertable ff in the captains chair that's still in the car.

We had the same problem with that seat I was so glad we tried it in advance of the birth. We ended up getting a conv. seat.

Oh man, that stinks.
I don't have any suggestions, if you're going to keep using that seat. If not, I'd just get a different seat - either a different infant seat or a convertible - and put it in a the middle row.

Have you slid the middle captain chair all the way back? I know that's probably a dumb question but when I got my new car I didnt' realize the middle row could slide. I had a snugride 35 in the back seat of a saturn with out moving the seats up (although it was in the middle) so I can't imagine it doesn 't fit in a van. But then again, it is a HUGE seat.

Re: too big =(

The captain's seats don't really slide backwards much (I guess that's one biggish difference between the Oddessy and the Pilot), oh well. We even tried sliding one seat more to the middle, but it doesn't go far enough over. It does make sense that we could just get a convertible - does anyone have a good suggestion for a cheaper convertible that can support a 6 week old that won't stick out as much?

I drive an 08 Odyssey and used the Onboard 35 no prob. Make sure the second row is all the way back, and that your driver's seat isn't reclined much. By making it more upright, you can buy yourself 2-3 inches. We didn't have any issues with it in an Accord either.

Re: too big =(

Hmm, I'll have to play with the recline of the chairs, the question is whether my DH is willing to drive or passenger with the seat that way.

We he an older van where the second row is a bench. We ended up getting a TrueFit because you can remove the headrest until 22lbs so it bought us some time. Then we were able to have the seat installed more upright. It still is not great but I can get in the van and not have my boobs on the dash and my forehead pressed to the visor I have more room in DH hyundai Elantra for RFing install than my van

Ok, and I apologize as well, I read snug ride 35 and you said onboard. So sorry for my mistake, I've never used that seat.

We have an Elantra too, and in that one the passenger seat really is cramped, it's pretty much knees on the dashboard. So maybe as soon as she holds her head up we will get a convertible that takes up less space =P
