Yes. To my knowledge, most OBs don't do them until around 37 weeks or later.

I was having lots of BH and cramping from about 34 weeks on. My OB checked me and said my cervix was unusually soft for that point so she sent me for an u/s to check cervical length. All was fine with it but she didn't check me gin until 37-ish weeks. (I hav no problem getting chked, personally.)
