Dyeing wool for longies. Help
I everyone. My mom is making my little one wool longies. This will be her second pair.
She is using bare peruvian highland wool worsted weight. Well, we already have one pair in the natural color, she would like to dye the second pair but doesn't know how to go about doing it. Is RIT dye ok? Will the hot water hurt the wool? She hasn't made it yet, is it better to dye before or after it is knit?Any suggestions that you have would be great. Thank you ![]() Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Re: Dyeing wool for longies. Help
Check out craft chat. There are some great tutorials on how to use wilton's food coloring or kool aid to dye yarn. I'm not sure if rit works or not.

I dyed some with kool aid. I did it before knitting so it's like a colorway but you could do a solid color or an ombré type after knitting. You can google different processes.
All of these I dyed with kool aid and then knit. Attachment 126416 Dyed the colorway in the breastfeeding symbol Attachment 126417 Sorry, chocolate on her face
