Re: Help! Need to know where to find super cheap diapers!

Hello from another foster momma! Our current LO is just shy of 6 weeks old but we're licensed up through 5 y/o. My current stash is mainly focused on the baby but I'm also starting to pick up some larger sizes as well. I've got mainly p/fs and OS covers, but I have a few xsmall Fuzzibunz and some Happy Heinys for when she gets a little older (or we have a toddler with us) I've been spending time on the FSOT boards as well as eBay. On my wish list is the Econobum set but I also really like the Flip and Bummis whisper wraps. It's so much fun to shop for CDs! I can see myself seriously addicted.

I would go with flats and covers. They're super easy to keep clean, fit any baby, and are very affordable. Econobums are cheap, but they're just too crazy bulky on a really little one, IMO. I would get a couple dozen small flats, a dozen large, maybe 6 flips and call it good. Okay, that's probably not ALL I would get, but that's all you would *need*.

Re: Help! Need to know where to find super cheap diapers!

Hi! I am a foster mom (just got licensed again & waiting for a call, fostered 3 infants previously). When starting up a stash this time, I initially planned to go the cheapest route (kinda), and I bought a ton of prefolds & Bummis covers (and a thirstie cover, but I don't like them as much). Then I got a code for Hess Nature & got a couple of wool soakers for overnight. Then I decided to get AIOs for quick trips out (I got great deals with BG & GroVia, but I love Motherease AIOs. They are plain, but sturdy & great!)

(Then I said the heck with it. We are doing foster/adopt & I decided that if I adopt a baby I want to not have any differences in how I diapered with my other kids, so I have a bunch of Sandy's, Kissas, Swaddlebees, Dunk N Fluff & more now. LOL)

If you truly want to do cheapest, prefolds & covers. Shop online for free shipping. Find the best prices AND work your purchases to get freebies. Places like Mom's Milk Boutique, cottonbabies & kelly's Closet offer freebies with purchase. I work my purchases to get more bang for my buck.

Econobums would be great. Gently used prefolds and Thirsties or Capri covers would be versatile and inexpensive. Happy for you! Sounds like a lot of changes in a short time, but all good ones!

Re: Help! Need to know where to find super cheap diapers!

I would suggest one-size covers and flats. We use gerber rcv'ing blankets padfolded in diaper rite covers for daytime and just add 1 hempbabies doubler for overnight.... super cheap, versatlie and it WORKS! DS is 2yrs, if that helps. For future los, I plan to buy a few bummis superbrite covers to use with our floursack
flats. I love bummis gentle elastic and double gussets.

Hmm. I'm curious to know what you've HEARD about alva, though? Especially bc they used to be one of my favorite fitting diapers on ds.

I'd do flats and onesize covers. Maybe get a handful of hemp inserts to add for overnight. We have awesome luck with Flip covers.
