Pumping for a friend

My friend is not pumping enough for her 7 month old and I'd like to give her some of my milk. I have an Avent manual pump and can't get any milk! Can I buy a used pump to pump for her? Is there a better manual pump out there? I can't afford a fancy pump as my DH lost his job a couple weeks ago.

If its used, it should be CHEAP. Check FSOT. Technically they are single user/ do actually selling a used pump gets difficult. So go make offers!

I'd recommend a medela swing. They're a great single pump. On eBay you can get after market tubing that turns it into a double. If you can afford a monthly fee hygeia rents hospital pumps. The first month is $45 and each additional month is $25. The personal accessory kit is $39.

I don't have any advice on pumps but I just wanted to say kudos to you for being willing to pump for your friend! I have supply issues and I would be so grateful if a friend did that for me. Awesome.

The lansinoh manual pump is amazing. Read the reviews on amazon! It runs about $30 but you can find it on sale for a few dollars less.

Good on you mama!!! I had to supplement my ydd with donor milk so I totally appeciate what your doing.

As far as buying a good used pump, hygiea and ameda (purely yours) are closed systems (unlike medela) so they are less likely to be contaminated or have the dreaded moldy motor.

Good luck mama!!

Re: Pumping for a friend

I think there are some sites you can rent one for a cheap price. Plus if you dual pump you may get more milk. I would check on the ameda website. Has she considered maybe wet nurse? I know a few mama's who wet nurse for their friends.
