Excuse the morning funk! ![]() Alannah putting her new ornament on the tree ![]() Mariah playing ![]() our tree ![]() So who celebrates? And how? We put out our stockings on the eve of St. Nick's day (tonight) and in the morning the girls get their stockings. I love it because it sort of splits of Christmas.

I grew up with this tradition as I lived in the Netherlands as a child for a while but I'm not passing it on. We have tons of other traditions and its just a lot to fit into the month of December.

Re: St Nicholas day
We put our shoes out and the kids get a few special treats they usually don't have (juice boxes, some candy) and a few toys from the $1 bin at Target. This year I also splurged a little and got them each a new Christmas movie.
My 5 year old is so excited he's had his shoes out since Sunday

Re: St Nicholas day
Yeah, I've found more people celebrate St Nick day than not here in Wisconsin. Not sure if it's regional but yeah, it's pretty big here. We belong to an Episcopal church and St. Nicholas is very much celebrated.

I'm in WI and we celebrate it too. We put out our shoes and they get filled with a few small toys, chocolate coins, and new books.

Re: St Nicholas day
For me it's a Catholic thing
We celebrate lots of feast days no one has ever heard of. I don't know if non-Catholics around here do it, but growing up, it's just what all of my Catholic friends and family did.
