Re: Worried about future kids having SN?

E has two extra chromosomes, so we have definitely thought about it. I would like to have more kiddos than just one, but dh is concerned about giving too much attention to E because of her needs and having the other child feel somewhat resentful towards her. Also, E has to be taken to the ER quite often, which is 1.5 hours away. He is concerned about what we would do with an infant if we had to stay in the hospital with E. Our nearest relatives (to take care of the baby) are 2.5 hours away and not in the direction of the hospital. So it's logistics AND the extra chromosomes that are steering us towards only having E.

Kara, wife to college sweetheart J and SAHM to E, diagnosed with OEIS complex at birth. What is OEIS? See E's website!

Re: Worried about future kids having SN?

DS has Aspergers and perhaps more going on (in addition to food allergies, asthma, and eczema). While the thought has crossed my mind about potential challenges with future children it doesn't stop me from wanting to add to our family. I do, however, wonder how DS would/will react to another member of our family. There's no way to try that out in advance, you know?
